Brittney Hahn, PhD student
I’m a PhD student interested in researching the migration and dispersal ecology of green lacewings (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) in North America. They’re among my favorite insects in the superorder Neuropterida, which includes snakeflies (Raphidioptera) and dobsonflies (Megaloptera)! I’m also passionate about natural history collections work and outreach. Outside of work, I love creating 2D art, staring at animals in the wild, and playing Monster Hunter.

Josh Graunke, M.S. student
My research interests have to do with ecology, conservation, and plant-insect interactions. I am very interested in how human activity impacts surrounding wildlife. A little more specifically, I am working on how modified cover crops, that have lower herbivory defense capabilities, may affect the insect communities associated with them and the agricultural systems surrounding them. Personally, I enjoy spending time with my family, and pets. I enjoy the outdoors and staying active by playing ultimate frisbee!

Nolan Lake, M.S. Student
I’m interested in researching integrative pest and pollinator management (IPPM), migration and beneficial insects, particularly hover flies (Diptera: Syrphidae). I completed my Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Guelph, Ontario, with a focus on entomology and field ecology. My undergraduate research examined the effects of native companion plants on pollinator community composition in urban rose gardens in partnership with the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG) and Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. Outside of the lab I enjoy hiking, board games and language learning!
